GranaShop or how to garden responsibly
We are concretely committed to defending several important values through our partnerships and our products!
We are committed to introducing you to sustainable and organic farming for your vegetable garden.
For this, we surrounded ourselves with the Kokopelli association as well as the Riedoasis Farm.
What are these values?
- Defense of biodiversity, food and medicine;
- Preservation of old varieties;
- Help with creating your own garden in the countryside and for the city, supporting the local economy and our local producers.
- Perpetuation of ancient knowledge, such as the medicinal virtues of plants.
The concept of the Kokopelli association
offers you the seeds of the Kokopelli association, founded in 1999 by fervent defenders of biodiversity and medicinal plants, Dominique and Sofy Guillet and Jocelyn Moulin.
These are reproducible and royalty-free organic seeds, to allow everyone to help develop new free varieties. The Kokopelli association claims the free and unrestricted use of:
- seeds from the Public Domain;
- medicinal plants used for millennia;
- fermented plant-based preparations, microorganisms, rock powders, etc., for agriculture.
Riedoasis: organic market gardening
also became a depot for La Ferme Riedoasis.
This is a group of local producers which supplies vegetables, eggs, bread and small groceries. Located on preserved land between the forest and the village of Obenheim in Alsace (Bas-Rhin, 67), La Ferme Riedoasis cultivates vegetables in organic market gardening. Without forgetting the preservation of biodiversity.
If you are looking for healthy, organic, local and seasonal food, while reducing your energy footprint, you can take advantage of the organic baskets of vegetables, fruit, bread and eggs that are offered to you, with or without a subscription!
Other products are also available in partnership with producers, always organic and primarily local: herbal teas, jams, honey and preserves from small grocery stores.
Why grow your own vegetable garden?
The return to the land and its culture comes back a little more forcefully every day. This desire to have your own garden most often reflects a desire to eat healthier and to know the origin of the food on the plate. But gardening, creating your vegetable garden, is also motivated by other reasons!
Rediscover the taste of food
Unless you already eat locally, the food on your plate no longer has much of a natural feel to it and has an altered or even bland taste. They are in fact grown in greenhouses and transported, sometimes by plane, to the shelves of your supermarket. To support this long journey, they are generally picked before maturity! Gardening allows you to rediscover the true taste of food and to cultivate old or little-known varieties to vary colors and flavors.
Reduce your ecological footprint
To prevent fruits and vegetables from traveling too far to end up on your plate, gardening remains the best way to reduce your ecological footprint. Your vegetables, fruits, herbs and flowers will have grown just a few meters from your kitchen!
And as all plants consume carbon dioxide (CO2) and release oxygen, you limit, on your scale, the effects of global warming and your carbon footprint (taking a bath, driving your car, overheating your home, everything this has consequences for the environment)!
Learn and share your know-how
When you start gardening, many questions arise. From the simplest to the most complicated: when to water? How to harvest? How to naturally limit diseases?
A neighbor, a friend, family or a store like GranaShop with books on the subject will help you garden better. It is indeed an experimental science and success is not always there!
The time of harvest allows us to create sharing around it, whether within the family or on a larger scale, within a neighborhood or a city.
In summary
: There are many reasons to garden and start your own vegetable garden! Whether for morale, to rediscover the true taste of food, for the planet or the pleasure of sharing one's knowledge or one's harvest, they all reflect this desire to return to the earth.
